Remembering D-Day... By Volunteering

On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 troops landed on the beaches of Normandy to fight Nazi Germany. More than 9,000 allied soldiers were killed or wounded. Not only today, but everyday we should honor all of our troops including the many WWII Veterans!

Tomorrow is a very special day for me...
Instead of going to work, I am actually participating in a very special volunteer opportunity. I will be a Guardian greeting approximately 96 WWII Veterans at Dulles International Airport with the Honor Flight Chicago program. Our day will consist of escorting the Veterans around to the different monuments in DC. It is such an honor to be able to spend my day with these wonderful Veterans that gave so much to our country! They deserve the absolute best treatment. We see how the celebrities are treated when they come to town, these Veterans deserve 10 times the VIP treatment! I can't wait to fill you in tomorrow on how our adventures through DC evolve!

Don't forget to thank a Veteran! They are true Hero's!

I will leave you with a quote that Honor Flight Network seems to live by...

"WE CAN'T ALL BE HEROES. SOME OF US HAVE TO STAND ON THE CURB AND CLAP AS THEY GO BY" - WILL ROGERS
